Official Casino Project Proposal released to the Community

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke wishes to inform Kahnawa�kehr�:non that the official Casino Project Proposal is now available for community members to view. 

The Proposal, which is a one-page document, describes the size and location; communal ownership; operations management; jobs and employment; control and profit distribution; dividends; problem gaming; and gaming agreements with the government.
 
Copies of the proposal are available at the MCK main office reception; the Casino Project Information Center; and online at www.kahnawake.com and www.kahnawakecasinoproject.com. Copies of the Proposal will also be distributed via Canada Post.

�It�s worth repeating that this Proposal is based on the Five Guiding Principles,� said Grand Chief Michael Ahr�hron Delisle, Jr. �Additionally, Chief & Council have signed the Declaration that affirms that the MCK will not have control of the Casino Board of Directors or the Treasury, and that no Chief can hold any management position while holding office or within a year of leaving office. Finally, the Proposal clearly states that the Casino Project will be 100% owned by the People of Kahnaw�:ke and that we will never compromise any political principles or outstanding political files in order to secure an agreement with outside governments.�

The upcoming referendum will be based on this Proposal. The date of the referendum is expected to be announced shortly.
