Membership Law Community Consultations to discuss definition of Common Law

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke would like to inform the community that the 17th Community Consultation on proposed amendments to the Kahnaw�:ke Membership Law will take place next Tuesday, 14 Tsothohrk�:wa/January, from 6pm to 8:30pm.
Please note that this meeting will be located at the Golden Age Club.
At this meeting, the MCK Membership Department will propose:
- A revised definition of common-law relationships, and offer options on the length of time for the definition
- A revision to the suspension of a Member due to marriage or common-law relationship with a non-Indigenous person, and offer options on the length of time
�These topics had been discussed in previous Community Consultations but were put into the �parking lot� to come back to once we reviewed how the common-law definition is used in other laws,� explained Membership Registrar Rose-Ann Morris.
Participants are being urged to arrive a few minutes early in order for the meeting to begin and end on schedule.
