Federal Heritage Minister M�lanie Joly visits Kahnawake

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke (MCK) wishes to advise the community that the Honorable M�lanie Joly, the federal Minister of Heritage, is in Kahnaw�:ke this afternoon for an official visit.
Minister Joly will meet with Chief & Council, where she will be given an overview of Kahnaw�:ke language initiatives. This will be followed by visits to Tsi Niionkwarih�:ten Tsitewah�hara�n Center (MCK�s Language and Culture Training Program Office); the Iakwahwatsirat�tie Kahnaw�:ke Language Nest; and the Kanien�keh�:ka Onkwaw�n:na Raotiti�hkwa Language & Cultural Center.
�I�m very excited to have yet another Minister to come and visit Kahnaw�:ke and see first-hand our advancements in the area of Language and Cultural Revitalization, said Iets�nhaienhs Kahsennenhawe Sky-Deer. �We have a lot to be proud of and this will be an opportunity for us to showcase the different programs and initiatives we have in the Community. There is always more than can be done, so we hope to highlight areas that can be funded and developed in the future through the Heritage budget.�
