Notice � Indigenous Services Canada contacting individuals regarding Wills

Council of Kahnaw�:ke (MCK) wishes to inform the community that Indigenous Services Canada (�the Department�) is currently in the process of returning wills to several members of the community as a result of the Department ceasing the practice of safekeeping wills belonging to First Nations individuals.

The Department does not have all the information to contact living testators or family members. This is the reason that some community members have received a call or social media message from the firm  SIRCO or GROUPE SIRCO. The latter is mandated by the Department to identify, locate and authenticate individuals before any confidential documentation can be sent.

Anyone with concerns on the legitimacy of the call can contact the Call center of the Government of Canada at 1-833-784-4401 or send an email to SAC.Testaments-Wills.ISC@canada.ca.
