Investigation into Fr. Lajoie issue to conclude February 25th
02/16/2022
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawą:ke (MCK) wishes to inform the community that the investigation into allegations of sexual abuse against the late Father Leon Lajoie will conclude on Friday, February 25th.
The investigation is being conducted by the King International Advisory Group, a well-known investigation, intelligence, and enterprise risk management consulting agency. Once the investigation is completed, the MCK has been informed a final report to the community should be expected sometime in March. The investigation firm was appointed and is funded by the Jesuit Order of Canada.
Until the investigation comes to a close, community members can contact the investigator to share their concerns, stories and feedback by contacting Brian King by telephone at (416) 628-6877 extension 222, emailing at bking@kinginternationalgroup.com or sending a text message to (416) 346-5833.
Please note that the investigation is separate from the Community Consultation questionnaire undertaken by the MCK on the same topic in November 2021. Further information on that process will be issued next week.
Father Lajoie was a priest and, later, the long-time pastor for the St. Francis Xavier Mission in Kahnawą:ke. He retired in the mid-1990s and passed away in 1999.
