Grand Chief to Meet Premier Charest

Grand Chief Michael Ahr�hrhon Delisle Jr. is expected to meet informally with Quebec Premier Jean Charest this evening. Both will be attending a dinner for the Canadian Jewish Congress.

The two met this past Ohiar�:ha/June to sign the Statement of Understanding and Mutual Respect that is providing a basis for intergovernmental relations between Kahnaw�:ke and Quebec. At that time a framework agreement was also signed to provide the blueprint for the renewal of the so-called Ten Agreements and the negotiation of new subject matters.

�We�ve been making progress,� said Chief Delisle. �I expect we�ll discuss ways of maintaining the momentum that�s been created. I�ll also take the opportunity to remind him of his commitment to visit Kahnaw�:ke sometime this fall.�
