Justice Act Hearings to Continue Wednesday, October 21

The Interim Legislative Coordinating Committee would like to inform the community that the hearings for a proposed Kahnaw�:ke justice system will continue on Wednesday, 21 Kent�nha/October at the Karonhian�hnha School gym from 6 to 9pm. Last night�s hearing, which was attended by about forty-five people, addressed the question:

�What issues or concerns should the justice system address?�

At the conclusion of the meeting, there was no consensus reached. Therefore, the discussion will continue in two weeks time. Should this conclude at a sufficiently early time, the third question (�Should judgments, orders and decisions from a Kahnaw�:ke justice system be recognized outside the Territory?�) will be addressed. Please note that the next session will begin at 6pm, a half-hour earlier than the first two.
